Bacteriostatic conformal coating for electronic components

    Get PDF
Coating for electronic components used in space applications has bacteriostatic qualities capable of hindering bacterial reproduction, both vegetative and sporulative viable microorganisms. It exhibits high electrical resistivity, a low outgassing rate, and is capable of restraining electronic components when subjected to mechanical vibrations

Asymptotic Exponential Arbitrage and Utility-based Asymptotic Arbitrage in Markovian Models of Financial Markets

    Get PDF
Consider a discrete-time infinite horizon financial market model in which the logarithm of the stock price is a time discretization of a stochastic differential equation. Under conditions different from those given in a previous paper of ours, we prove the existence of investment opportunities producing an exponentially growing profit with probability tending to 11 geometrically fast. This is achieved using ergodic results on Markov chains and tools of large deviations theory. Furthermore, we discuss asymptotic arbitrage in the expected utility sense and its relationship to the first part of the paper.Comment: Forthcoming in Acta Applicandae Mathematica

Time Series Modeling and Forecasting GDP in the Ghanaian Economy

In this research, empirical modeling of the Ghanaian GDP was done by using the Box-Jenkins model which is also known as the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average model (ARIMA). We followed the 4 steps involved in using this model which include model identification, estimation of parameters, diagnostic checking and finally, model use (or forecasting). The analysis was carried out by using the GDP data of Ghana from 1970-2014. We found an original result by discovering an ARIMA (0; 1; 0) process modeling this GDP data. Next, we made forecast of the GDP of Ghana for the period 2015-2020 and compared the forecast values with that of Ghana Statistical service and other international forecasting organizations. The result from the forecast revealed that the GDP of Ghana is mostly influenced by external factors and may experience an increase for the period 2015-2020. Keywords: Gross Domestic Product (GDP), stationarity, invertibility, Box-Jenkins, auto-regressive

The CO/PC analogy in coordination chemistry and catalysis

    No full text
9 pagesThis short account summarizes recent results obtained in the coordination chemistry of phosphinines and emphasizes their analogy with CO ligands. Reduced complexes can be easily assembled through the reaction of reduced 2,2'-biphosphinine dianions with transition metal fragments. Theoretical calculations were performed to establish the oxidation state of the metal in these complexes. Though many reduced complexes are available, phosphinines proved to be too sensitive toward nucleophiles to be used as efficient ligands in most catalytic processes. However, the high electrophilicity of the phosphorus atom can be exploited to synthesize phosphacylohexadienyl anions which exhibit a surprising coordination chemistry. When phosphino sulfide groups are incorporated as ancillary tridentate anionic SPS ligands can be easily produced. These ligands can bind different transition metal fragments such as M-X (M = group 10 metal, X = halogen), Rh-L (L = 2 electron donor ligand), Cu-X and Au-X (X = halogen). Palladium(II) complexes proved to be active catalyst in the Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. Bidentate anionic PS ligands were also synthesized following a similar approach. Their Pd(II) (allyl) derivatives showed a very good activity in the Suzuki catalyzed cross-coupling process that allows the synthesis of biphenyl derivatives through the reaction of phenylboronic acid with bromoarenes

In the article, the bibliographic guides to the English-language publications in Slavic, East European and Soviet Studies that were published in the second half of the 20th century are analyzed. The special attention is given to history of Ukraine from the second half of the 1940s till the mid-1960s as a particular subject in those guides

The detection of the imprint of filaments on cosmic microwave background lensing

Galaxy redshift surveys, such as 2dF, SDSS, 6df, GAMA and VIPERS, have shown that the spatial distribution of matter forms a rich web, known as the cosmic web. The majority of galaxy survey analyses measure the amplitude of galaxy clustering as a function of scale, ignoring information beyond a small number of summary statistics. Since the matter density field becomes highly non-Gaussian as structure evolves under gravity, we expect other statistical descriptions of the field to provide us with additional information. One way to study the non-Gaussianity is to study filaments, which evolve non-linearly from the initial density fluctuations produced in the primordial Universe. In our study, we report the first detection of CMB (Cosmic Microwave Background) lensing by filaments and we apply a null test to confirm our detection. Furthermore, we propose a phenomenological model to interpret the detected signal and we measure how filaments trace the matter distribution on large scales through filament bias, which we measure to be around 1.5. Our study provides a new scope to understand the environmental dependence of galaxy formation. In the future, the joint analysis of lensing and Sunyaev-Zel'dovich observations might reveal the properties of `missing baryons', the vast majority of the gas which resides in the intergalactic medium and has so far evaded most observations
